The Role

The Engineer leads the engineering team at Water Solution, working closely with the survey and environment team and supported by Water Solution's management to make sure projects succeed. In this role, the Engineer gives guidance and expertise to the engineering team, making sure everyone works well together and follows the project goals.

Qualification

·         Bachelor's/master’s degree in engineering

Responsibilities

  • Develop designs for coastal and marine projects, encompassing structures, erosion control measures, and harbor facilities.
  • Lead in project coordination, collaborating with surveyors, environmental experts, and numerical modelers to ensure meticulous planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with surveyors undertaking topographical and bathymetric surveys for the formulation of coastal structures and an in-depth understanding of marine environments.
  • Work with environmental experts to conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for coastal projects, ensuring strict adherence to environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
  • Coordinate with numerical modelers to simulate and analyze coastal processes, such as wave dynamics and sediment transport, providing valuable insights to inform engineering designs and solutions.
  • Prepare drawings, plans, and engineering documents vital for the successful implementation of projects, integrating inputs from various technical experts.
  • Develop engineering bidding documents and tenders in project proposals through collaborative efforts with the team.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess construction progress, inspect materials and enforce compliance with stringent engineering specifications.
  • Enhancing the capacity and skills of the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and multidisciplinary work environment.
  • Facilitate information exchange among team members, including surveyors, environmental experts, and numerical modelers, ensuring effective project implementation.
  • Address and resolve unique challenges and conditions specific to the Maldivian coastal environment, leveraging local knowledge and expertise for innovative engineering solutions.
  • Remain informed of advancements in coastal and marine engineering, integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to continually enhance project outcomes.
  • Engage in communication with local communities and stakeholders to gain insights, address concerns, and ensure that engineering solutions align with the needs and priorities of the Maldivian populace.
  • Undertake additional technical and managerial responsibilities as assigned by the management at Water Solutions.
  • Carry out safety inspections and report hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.
  • Assist in implementing health and safety programs and procedures.

Remuneration

·         Based on knowledge and experience

·         In addition to the basic salary, employees will be entitled to allowances for field days, a monthly gym allowance, reimbursement of medical bills, and a Ramazan allowance.

The Role:

This role is for someone practical and proactive, able to handle various mechanical, electrical, construction, and maintenance tasks. You'll help keep the facility running safely and efficiently.

Competencies:

  • Experience working in marine or industrial environments, with a flexible approach to supporting various site needs.
  • Capable of identifying and resolving common mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Hands-on experience with carpentry, masonry, painting, and light construction tasks.

  • Able to perform welding, basic electrical and plumbing work, as well as fabrication when needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintaining a clean, well-organized workspace.

  • Proven experience in multi-skill trades (welding, mechanical, construction, etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to work in various environments.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Boat Captain

The Role


Responsible for the safe operation and navigation of a vessel, ensuring the well-being of WS staff

members/passengers and crew while adhering to maritime regulations and protocols. Oversee

maintenance and provide leadership on board, managing tasks such as navigation, communication, and

emergency response.


Competencies

1. Must be at least 20 years of age.

2. Speed boat driving license issued by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

3. Experienced in operation and navigation of speed boats.   

4. Should have strong navigation skills.

5. Ability to work independently.

6. Fluent in Dhivehi.

7. Lead and work well in team environment.

8. Knowledge of local regulations by Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

9. Must be physically fit to operate a vessel safely. 


Qualification


1. Speed boat license 

2. Knowing how to communicate with the Coast Guard or other authorities in case of a distress

situation.


Responsibilities


1. Attendance and responsiveness are critical aspects of a speed boat captain's role, as they need

to be available and ready to operate the boat whenever called upon by the company. 

2. Being punctual and responsive to the company's needs is essential for maintaining a

professional and reliable service.

3. Ensuring the safety and well-being of all WS staff members/passengers on board is the top

priority.

4. Providing safety briefings to passengers, including the location of life jackets, emergency

procedures, and rules for on-board behavior.

5. Safely navigating the speed boat through various waterways, avoiding obstacles, shallow areas,

and other hazards.

6. Following navigational charts and markers to stay on course.

7. Properly operating and maintaining the speed boat's engine, steering, and other systems.

8. Monitoring engine performance, fuel levels, and other mechanical aspects of the boat.

9. Conducting regular safety checks before and after each trip.
