General Operations Technician

The Role:

This role is for someone practical and proactive, able to handle various mechanical, electrical, construction, and maintenance tasks. You'll help keep the facility running safely and efficiently.

Competencies:

  • Experience working in marine or industrial environments, with a flexible approach to supporting various site needs.
  • Capable of identifying and resolving common mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Hands-on experience with carpentry, masonry, painting, and light construction tasks.
  • Knowledgeable in the care, maintenance, and repair of tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Able to perform welding, basic electrical and plumbing work, as well as fabrication when needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintaining a clean, well-organized workspace.
  • Collaborates with technicians, contractors, and team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Able to coordinate with others when needed to complete tasks efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

Junior Engineer

The Role

Junior Engineer will work under the close guidance of a Senior Engineer at Water Solutions, providing technical support to engineering, environmental, and survey-related projects. The role involves assisting with field data collection, basic engineering analysis, preparation of drawings and technical documents and project monitoring activities. The Junior Engineer will support project delivery while ensuring tasks are carried out in accordance with approved designs, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.  The Junior Engineer is expected to be proactive, adaptable, and eager to develop technical skills on live projects.

Competencies

  • Understanding of planning, organizing, and supporting engineering projects under supervision.
  • Good knowledge of engineering principles and methodologies relevant to the role.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and support senior engineers, surveyors and environmental consultants. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to follow guidance and instructions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and protocols, with the ability to apply them in project activities.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Coastal, Environmental, or a related discipline). 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Basic proficiency in engineering and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar). 

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and management of engineering-related components of projects implemented by Water Solutions, under the guidance of the Senior Engineer.
  • Assist the environment and survey teams in data collection, preparation of engineering drawings and layouts, including coastal, environmental, and civil designs.
  • Support the preparation of concept and detailed engineering designs for projects such as coastal protection, waste management, sewerage, utilities, and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with planning and undertaking field data collection, surveys, and site observations required for engineering analysis and design.
  • Support effective communication and information sharing among internal teams, consultants, and relevant stakeholders during project implementation.
  • Carry out technical and documentation tasks as assigned by the Senior Engineer and project consultants.
  • Review project plans, technical requirements, and budgets to support engineering design and reporting activities.
  • Assist in drafting engineering drawings, plans, layouts, and technical documents for various infrastructure and coastal engineering projects.
  • Support the preparation of engineering tender documents, technical specifications, and bidding materials for consultancy projects.
  • Revise drawings and technical documents in response to comments from regulatory authorities and other reviewers.
  • Assist in checking engineering drawings and documents for compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Support project monitoring by preparing progress updates, technical reports, and documentation of project stages.
  • Conduct site visits and site observations to monitor progress, collect data, and report findings to the Senior Engineer (no construction supervision).

Junior Environmental Consultant

 The Role

 Junior Environment Consultant will work under the supervision of a Senior Environmental Consultant/s at Water Solutions. Junior Environment Consultant is expected to:

 Competencies

1.       Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, environmental sciences or relevant field

2.       Fluency in English and Dhivehi (spoken and written) 

3.       Ability to work independently 

4.       Fluent in Dhivehi and English.

5.       Work well in team environment.

 Qualification

 1.       Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, environmental sciences or relevant field

 Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Chief Surveyor and Lead Environmental Consultant in data compilation, digitization, geo-referencing, and related GIS tasks to develop geospatial databases using ArcGIS.

  2. Work closely with the Environment Team to contribute to Environmental Studies, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports, and other technical research activities.

  3. Prepare and organize internal and external correspondence, maintain project files, and support documentation for meetings and project-related activities.

  4. Participate in field visits and assist in data collection, report preparation, and other project documentation tasks.

  5. Support effective communication and information flow among project stakeholders and team members.

  6. Provide suggestions and feedback to improve workflow and work environments, both in the office and during fieldwork.

  7. Perform other technical and coordination tasks as assigned by Senior Consultants and Surveyors.

  8. Undertake additional responsibilities as required by other ongoing or upcoming projects.

Junior Surveyor

The Role:  

Junior Surveyor responsible for conducting various surveying tasks and data collection

activities. These tasks will encompass topographic surveying, setting out surveying, engineering

measurements, hydrographic surveys, and UAV mapping. Junior Engineer will play a crucial role in providing

surveying support services for a diverse range of projects.


Competencies:

  • Proficient in Dhivehi and English (spoken and written).
  • Willingness to work in diverse field environments with strong adaptability and a positive learning attitude.
  • Basic computer proficiency. 
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety requirements during field and office work.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work under supervision.
  • Minimum one year of relevant surveying experience or equivalent training will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with modern surveying tools and technologies such as GNSS, UAV, USV, laser scanning, and GIS will be an addded advantage. 

Qualification

  • O Level with 1 year work experience or A level completed 

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate, coordinate, and oversee surveying projects undertaken by Water Solutions.
2. Plan and execute surveys under the guidance of the Chief Surveyor.
3. Assist the senior surveyors in data collection, compilation, digitization, geo-referencing, and other GIS tasks
4. Support the Environmental Studies and Environmental Impact Assessment Studies conducted by
the environment team by creating maps and visualizations.
5. Participate in field visits, project report preparation, and related documentation alongside the
environment and survey teams.
6. Facilitate effective information sharing among project stakeholders.
7. Prepare surveying equipment and ensure necessary materials are available for surveys.
8. Conduct topographic surveys, as-built surveys, hydrographic surveys, and setting out surveys for
company projects.
9. Ensure all field equipment, forms, maps, and materials are in working order before field
operations.
10. Development of necessary skills required to complete the designated tasks.
11. Taking care of the instruments.
12. Ensure all the field expenses occurred in the field is properly accounted as required by the
accountant.

Junior Environment Consultant will work under the supervision of a Lead Environmental Consultant/s at Water Solutions.

Competencies:

  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience in the environmental field
  • Fluency in English and Dhivehi (spoken and written)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Capable of working in diverse field conditions and adapting quickly to new environments
  • Willingness to travel with the project team to different project locations as required
  • Eagerness to learn new technical skills and stay updated with industry developments

Responsibilities:

  • Support the collection, sampling and monitoring of environmental data during field activities.
  • Conduct environmental field surveys, including air, water, soil and biodiversity assessments, under supervision.
  • Accurately record and document field observations and measurements.
  • Assist in the preparation of EIA, IEE and related environmental studies.
  • Review project activities for compliance with national environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Draft and compile sections of technical reports and maintain organized project documentation.
  • Support the coordination and documentation of stakeholder consultations, including meeting notes and feedback summaries.
  • Assist in creating and analyzing maps using GIS software and tools.
  • Participate in environmental monitoring activities following project implementation and EIA approval.
  • Provide logistical and administrative assistance for organizing and executing fieldwork and project tasks.
